Beginner Quilting Class (for ages 14 and up) – Tuesdays April 14th, 21st, 28th, & May 5th from 1pm – 4pm

Stop in or call to sign up for this free class at the library, where you will learn how to make a beautiful 12″ patchwork quilted potholder / hot pad to take home with you.  The class is limited to 5 participants ages 14 and up.  This is a 3-hour class each week over 4 weeks (4 classes to complete one pot holder).

Participants will receive a new beginner’s quilting book to keep.  All supplies for the class are provided.  It is optional to bring if you have them: 18″ x 24″ rotary cutting mat, 45mm rotary cutter, 6.5″ x 24″ cutting ruler, sewing machine in good working order with extra needles, 1/4″ foot highly recommended, scissors, seam ripper, pins, thimble, and hand sewing needles.

• Accurate & safe rotary cutting
• Sewing an accurate 1/4″ seam allowance
• Piecing quilt blocks & pressing
• Layering potholder pieced top, batting, and backing
• Quilting the layers
• Binding the potholder
